Discrimination has many forms; some are more difficult to identify than others. Microaggressions are a subtle form of bias that is often overlooked or unacknowledged yet still impacts individuals from underrepresented backgrounds. As graduate OT students who may identify with this issue and represents these communities, it could benefit to reflect on the microaggression that was encountered and respond respectfully; what strategies have you found work best for managing this situation?

this is something I am trying to understand more as I live in America. From where I come from there was an obvious bias towards foreigners and people who looked like they stood out. Here its not as bad but still identifiable in school. I would still like to hear more examples and phrases that could represent this cause most of the time people brush it off as friendly banter.
I think this is a great topic. Personally, I have trouble recognizing these things until I talk to my colleagues and by then it is too late. So, I would love to know others thoughts.
